The Two Tars Tent is one of the earliest ‘tents’ of the international Laurel and Hardy appreciation society called “The Sons of the Desert”. The Two Tars were formed back in 1971. Like other tents of the organization, we are named after one of the more than 100 comedies made by the classic comedy team, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
The Two Tars holds family-friendly banquets twice a year for members and interested public at locations convenient for people in the PA/NJ/DE area. The banquets are held in the Spring and Fall, usually April and October. These shows include an early dinner, classic comedy movies and cartoons, and often have live entertainment as part of the program. Costs are reasonable, and held at family-friendly times. The Two Tars also partners with our sister tent in Downingtown, PA, ‘Their First Mistake’ with smaller programs throughout the year, including an annual grand show held at the historic Colonial Theater in Downingtown, PA.
When you join the Two Tars Tent, you are supporting over a half century of movie comedy appreciation, and help the tent put together events. Members also get a quarterly mailing of the Sons of the Desert Intra-Tent Journal, the official publication of the Sons of the Desert. We also publish our own newsletter, The Tarrier, sent to all members. Anyone can join our mail list to learn of upcoming events.
